の頃 vs. の時: How to Correctly Use These From Today
Did you think “の頃” and “の時” are the same meaning? The answer is not wrong, however, they slightly have a different nuance. Let me introduce what their different nuance is today!
私が__の頃 (watashi-ga-nokoro)/ __の時 (watashi-ga-notoki)
When I was ___ / 时期/时候 / 무렵/때 / Hồi/ Thời, Khi/ Lúc
“私が__の頃 and 私が__の時” mean “When I was ___” and which have been used to “describe the past” that is not only used for the subject of “私(I)”, but it also used for the subject of “あなた(You)”, “彼/彼女(He/She)” and “彼ら/彼女ら/それら(They)”. Using “__の頃” and “__の時” have subtle differences. When people use “__の頃” to describe the past, it is a little bit unspecific, whereas when people use ” __の時” to describe the past is specific. For instance, although “私が中学の頃” and “私が中学の時” would be translated to “When I was in middle school”, people use “中学の頃“, their memory is a little vague. However people use “中学の時“, their memory is clear. That’s what the subtle difference between them is.
