to tomoni” vs. “ni tsurete“:Improve and Expand Your Vocabulary

What is the difference between “とともに(to tomoni) and につれて(ni tsurete)”? They have subtle differences. Which is correct: “先生せんせいはなはじめるとともに友達ともだちた” or “先生せんせいはなはじめるにつれて友達ともだちた”? After reading this, you would be answering this question. Let me introduce what their subtle differences are and how you correctly use them such as native speakers today!

とともに (to tomoni) / につれて (ni tsurete)

As / 同时/随着 / 과 함께/에 데리고 / Cùng với’/dẫn đến

“とともに(to tomoni) / つれて(ni tsurete)” means “As” and which has been used as the meaning of “during the time that”. The basic way to them is “___(verb)するとともに___(verb)する” and “___(verb)するにつれて___(verb)する”. For instance, 先生せんせいはなすとともにた。(As soon as the teacher started talking, I have slept.) and 先生せんせいはなすにつれてた。(As the teacher started talking, I have slept.). The big difference between them is that basically, とともに has the meaning of “as soon as” and “につれて” has the meaning of “gradually”.
