“通る and 通過” means “Pass (through)” and which has been used as the meaning of ” to move in a specified direction”. The difference between “通る” and “通過” is that using “通る” sounds natural in daily conversation and “通過” is used as formal in public or a written word. So between your friends, “電車が通るよ(The train will pass.)” and “電車が通過します(The train will pass)” as an announcement at the station. The basic way to use “通る” is “___(things)が通る” and “___(subject)は___(place)を通る” as same as “通過” is “___(things)が通過する” and “___(subject)は___(place)を通過する”.
