When you want to describe “you understand what someone is telling you.”, you would be able to use “あー、なるほど。(a-, naruhodo)” and which means “Oh, I see.”. Everybody could use this in daily conversations as casual and “あー、そういうことですね。(a-, sō iu ko to desu ne) is used as polite and formal. Furthermore, native speakers tend to say “なるほどね。(naruhodo ne)” which sounds a little bit energetic.
