Which is Better in Daily Conversations?
The meaning of “一人” and “単独” is the same, however, they have the difference in nuance. What is that? Let me introduce how you correctly use them such as native speakers today!
[wp-svg-icons icon=”checkmark-circle” wrap=”i”] 一人で(hitori-de)
[wp-svg-icons icon=”arrow-right-2″ wrap=”span”] By myself/Alone / 一个人, 单独 / 혼자, 단독 / Một mình, Đơn độc
“一人で” is “By myself or Alone” and which has been used for the meaning of just “one” that doesn’t have the meaning of “solely and lonely”, unlike “単独で”, although the meaning of both is “one”. Native speakers often use this word. Try to use this!
(I’ll go by myself.) ) (Tôi sẽ đi một mình.)

[wp-svg-icons icon=”checkmark-circle” wrap=”i”] 単独で(tandoku-de)
[wp-svg-icons icon=”arrow-right-2″ wrap=”span”] Independently/Solely / 单独 / 단독 / Đơn độc
“単独で” means “independently or solely” which has been used for the meaning of “loneliness”. And when using “単独で”, it is emphasized the meaning of “one, alone and by one’s self” like “ONLY alone”. That’s the difference between “一人で” and “単独で”. If you emphasize the meaning of “ALONE”, use it!
(He makes his all decision independently, doesn’t it?) ) (Anh ta một mình quyết định mọi việc.)
