Technically, a notebook computer would have a smaller display than a laptop, and the notebook was a thinner design and it weighed less than the laptop, however, they have been used as the same meaning lately. Although, “ラップトップ” and “ノートパソコン” is also used as the same meaning, “ラップトップ” is an obsolete word in Japan, thus when using “ラップトップ” to Japanese, they don’t understand.
