“まあね(maane) and まあな(maana)” mean “Kind of. (Kinda.)” and which has been used “when you are trying to explain or describe something, but you cannot be exact”. The tips for using them are that “まあね” is used by “WOMEN(girls) and MEN(boys)” and “まあな” is used ONLY BY MEN(boys)”. If you a man, you would be able to use both “まあね and まあな”. “まあな” sounds “kind” and “まあな” sounds “manly”. So, men(boys) often use “まあな” between their friends who are men and they often use “まあね” for women(girls). If you are women(girls), you would use “まあね”. Don’t use “まあな” which sounds “SO boyish” if you are women(girls). That’s their differences are. The basic ways to use them are that “まあね” and “まあな” after someone asks something such as “___と付き合ってるの? (Are you seeing ___?)” and you would answer “まあね or まあな” which is “Kind of”. If you say “そうだよ” of this answer which is “Yeah.” or “Yes”.
