つち vs. 土地とち: Your Japanese Skill Would Improve

What is the difference between “つち and 土地とち“? Which is used related to “real estate”? After reading this, you would be answering this question. Let me introduce what their subtle differences are and how you correctly use them such as native speakers today!

つち” means “Soil” and which has been used for the meaning of “the substance on the surface of the earth in which plants grow.”. The basic way to use it is “わたしつちう。(I buy some soil.)”, “これつち植物しょくぶつにとっていです。(This soil is good for planting.)”, etc. The tips for using it are “つち” is often used for “JUST SOIL” everybody can imagine. Everybody could use “つち” in daily conversations as casual and in business situations as formal such as “つちったよ。(I bought some soil.)” as casual and “つちいました。(I buy some soil.)” as formal.

土地とち” means “Land” and which has been used for the meaning of “an area of ground, especially one that is used for a particular purpose such as building”. The basic way to use it is “わたし土地とちう。(I buy a land.)”, “この土地とちたかいです。(This land is expensive.)”, etc. The tips for using it are “土地とち” is often used for “REAL ESTATE” which is to be traded with money. Everybody could use “土地とち” in daily conversations as casual and in business situations as formal such as “土地とちったよ。(I bought a land.)” as casual and “土地とちいました。(I bought a land.)” as formal.
