“chūshoku” vs. “hiru gohan”：Everyone Knows How Their Nuance is.

昼食 (chūshoku)/ 昼ご飯 (hiru gohan)

“昼食 (chūshoku)” and “昼ご飯 (hiru gohan)” mean “Lunch” which has been used as the meaning of “a meal that is eaten in the middle of the day”. These words have subtle differences which “昼食” is a little bit formal than “昼ご飯” that is casual. So, you would be able to use “昼ご飯” among your finds and “昼食” for your boss, business partner, etc in public situations. Although “昼ご飯” sounds friendly for us, it sounds a little bit childish in public situations.
