Are You Sure That 旅行りょこう Sounds the Same As 旅たび?

First of all, 旅行りょこう(ryokou) sounds the same as 旅たび(tabi), however, they have a slight difference in nuance from each other. Let me introduce the difference in nuance between these and the way to correctly use them today!

旅行りょこう(ryokou) / 旅たび(tabi)

Trip, Journey / 旅行, 旅游 / 여행, 방랑 / Du lịch, Chuyến đi

“旅行りょこう and 旅たび” mean “Trip and Journey” and which have been used for people to travel somewhere. The difference between them is “旅行りょこう” sounds basic “trip and vacation”. Whereas “旅たび” sounds pretty grand and heavier than “旅行りょこう” such as “一人ひとり旅たび(travel by one’s self). A hitch-hiker would be using “旅たび” instead of “旅行りょこう“. A family who travels somewhere would be using “旅行りょこう” instead of “旅たび“. “旅行りょこう” sounds fun and light, unlike “旅たび” sound grand and pretty heavy.
