When you want to describe “a food had a taste similar to that of sugar”, you would be able to use “甘かったです。(amakatta desu)” which means “It was sweet.”. Everybody could use this in daily conversations as polite and formal and “甘かったよ。(amakatta yo)” is used as casual.
